GoodLunch – a network of modern canteens in Prague – is built on diversity, freshness, and authenticity. These are values we also share at GreeenTech, which is why we are delighted that our hydroponic farm Urbi. has become part of one of their canteens at Port7 in Prague’s Holešovice.
At GoodLunch, every meal is prepared exclusively from fresh ingredients and cooked directly on site, ensuring not only quality but also a unique taste. Supporting this are plants from the Urbi. farm, which can supply up to 100 units of fresh greens every month. According to Goodlunch plant-based cuisine specialist, the farm is not only a great addition to the interior but also a practical helper.
Many people worry that maintaining the farm might be complicated. She dispels these concerns: “It’s not demanding at all, anyone can handle it,” she says. She especially appreciates the mobile app, which allows her to control the farm remotely while monitoring temperature, humidity or harvest time. “In the everyday rush I don’t have to think about fertilizing or refilling water – the app tells me everything,” she adds.
The farm operates on the principle of continuous water circulation. The plants absorb only as much as they need, while the rest returns to the system, meaning water loss through evaporation is minimal. Thanks to the enclosed environment, the plants are also protected from pests, eliminating the need for pesticides. “Urbi. is, in my view, an interesting path towards sustainability,” she adds.
In her kitchen, she most often uses stronger-flavored herbs and leaves such as mustard greens, sorrel, or basil. One of the greatest benefits of the farm, she says, is the ability to always have fresh plants on hand and to sow exactly what is needed for the menu – without depending on deliveries. As she puts it: “An endless supply of herbs, salads, and microgreens I need in my kitchen.”
